After the great success of the first edition, Let me Italian you is ready to launch the second and exclusive edition of DISCOVER LISBON. The last edition for the year 2018!
"Light, say artists, is all important to creating a masterpiece. The azure sky over Lisbon, long hours of summer sunshine and golden sunsets are factors that ensure many visitors go home with fond memories and great photographs of the Portuguese capital. " Welcome to Lisbon: the City of Light.
DISCOVER LISBON is an innovative project whose purpose is to make the participants live a professional experience for those who love photography and video making.
The main goal of the project is to valorise and promote the magical and picturesque city of Lisbon, in Portugal, through photos, reportage, videos made by photographers (amateurs or not) from different places of the world. DISCOVER LISBON wants to enrich the professional and academic path of the photographer, moreover it wants to enrich his portfolio.
DISCOVER LISBON is supported by IADE-Universidade Europeia.
The two tours of the city are organized in collaboration with Rita the Guide, a professional local guide,who knows all the sights of Lisbon and will take you on a guided tour. Exactly:
1° Tour - Alfama: Alfama is one of the oldest districts in Europe and the former red light district of Lisbon. Surviving the great earthquake of 1755, Alfama is home to relics of the Arabic occupation in the 8th century, roman ruins and monuments regarding the foundation of Portugal 900 years ago! This maze-like little village inside the center of Lisbon will transport you to a simpler time where kids play on the streets, neighbors get together on a daily basis, doors are not locked and where the cars don't fit. Come wander these lost in time streets with a home made ginjinha, discover the birthplace of fado or just chat while drinking a portuguese glass of wine and tasting an amazing cheese platter. It includes: Cathedral of Lisbon - The castle of Lisbon - Labyrinth of old Alfama streets - History of Alfama - History of fado.
2° Tour - Downtown: With this tour you get to know the full history of Lisbon that originates as far as 3000 years ago, all the way up to the key events of XXI century Lisbon. We will see the highlights and the top attractions of its unique downtown area, the best viewpoints of the seven hills, talk about culture, literature and politics. The best way to understand the Portuguese people and the country's evolution, from its glorious past until today's Europe best well-kept secret. It includes: All downtown area - Best sightseeing points - Historical monuments, churches and ruins - Full Lisbon history.
In order to improve participants’ professional and academic skills, there will be several workshops and photoshooting:
- Workshop "The light of Lisbon" lead by the professor Octavio Alcantara at the prestigious IADE-Universidade Europeia
- Workshop "Long Exposure in Landscape Photography" at Belvedere of Our Lady of the Hill organized by the photographer Onésimo Costa
- Workshop "Street photography" organized by the photographer Paulo Texeira
- Outdoor Photoshoot with local models in Belém
How is DISCOVER LISBON organized and what is its output?
The role of participant is to take photos of Lisbon's beauties during each guided tours. You will work alone or in pair (your fellow could be one your friend). The project lasts 4 days.

At the end of the project, each participant shall receive an Attendance certificates signed by the Let me Italian you team and all its partners: IADE - Universidade Europeia, Paulo Texeira.
Plus, in order to bring more visibility to the work done during the project, each participant will submit 20 photos with their credits to Let me Italian you and the photos will be published by our official Flickr & Instagram (@letmeitalianyou) accounts.
