DISCOVER KRAKOW

DISCOVER KRAKOW is an innovative project whose purpose is to make the participants live a professional experience for those who love photography and video making. It has involved 350 participants from 36 different nationalities and with more than 4200 photos taken. Besides the prestigious collaboration with National Geographic Poland. The main goal of the project is to valorise and promote the romantic and shining city of Krakow, in Poland, trough photos, reportage, videos made by photographers (amateurs or not) from different places of the world. DISCOVER KRAKOW wants to enrich the professional and academic path of the photographer, moreover it wants to enrich his portfolio.

DISCOVER KRAKOW is supported by Italian Cultural Institute in Krakow.

The tour of Old Town is organized in collaboration with Małgorzata Kubas, a professional Polish guide,who knows all the sights of Krakow and will take you on a guided tour. Furthermore, agenda will be enriched with the visit of the UNESCO World heritage site: Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps.

In order to improve participants’ professional and academic skills, there will be several workshops and photoshooting:

Workshop "Long expose in Landscape photography" organized by Michał Włoch at Krakus Mound
Lecture about "Landscape and Architecture Photography" run by Monika Mroczkowska, teacher at the famous Cracow School Of Art and Fashion Design
Workshop "Natural light photography" organized by the photographer Paulina Wawrzak or Workshop "Fashion photography" organized by the photographer Pawel Wodnicki
Outdoor Shooting with local models organized by the photographer Aleksandra Dziadko

Exclusevely for this edition, we have the pleasure to have a special guest: the wonderful model Angelika K.

How is DISCOVER KRAKOW - Summer Edition organized and what is its output?

The role of participant is to take photos of Krakow’s beauties during each guided tours. You will work alone or in pair (your fellow could be one your friend). The project lasts 4 days.

At the end of the project, each participant shall receive an Attendance certificates signed by the Let me Italian you team and all its partners: Italian Cultural Institute in Krakow, Cracow School Of Art and Fashion Design, Aleksandra Dziadko , Paulina Wawrzak .

Plus, in order to bring more visibility to the work done during the project, each participant will submit 20 photos with their credits to Let me Italian you and one of the photos will be published by the official page of Istituto Italiano di Cultura, and from our official Flickr (Let me Italian you).

Hi, my name is Sara.

I am an American, living and working in southern Italy for the past 24 years. I teach translation and writing at the University of Bari.

In my free time I am passionate about weightlifting and photography.

I've partecipated in Discover Budapest 1 & Discover Marrakech 1.

Cinzia

My name is Cinzia and I live in Turin (north Italy).

I work as accountant and I love reading, travelling and photography.

I've partecipated in Discover Barcelona 8.

Elisabeth

Hello,

my name is Elisabeth, I'm 49 years old and living in Stockholm. I'm a member of a group photographer in Sweden. I also have an Instagram account with over 40 000 followers.

I got my first camera for my 8th birthday. Since then I have been photographing from time to time but I started again 3 years ago.

Im really looking forward to this trip. Marrakech has ben on my "bucket list" for a long time and I hope to learn a lot, make new friends, have a lot of good laugh and come home with a lot of beautiful pictures.

I've partecipated in Discover Marrakech 3.

Alessandra nasce ad Ischia nel 1993. Dopo gli studi classici frequenta la facoltà di Architettura dell’università Federico II di Napoli. E‘ da sempre stata circondata e affascinata dall’arte nelle sue diverse forme, e dal 2009 si appassiona alla fotografia, iniziando a frequentare numerosi corsi per apprendere le nozioni, le tecniche e le infinite possibilità di creazione artistica. Questa passione si rinforza, così come la volontà di andare oltre la visione classica della fotografia, in un deciso rifuggire da tutto ciò che nell’immaginario collettivo risulta ordinario. Ad oggi ha alle spalle 9 mostre fotografiche, tra collettive e personali.

My name is Georg and I am from Austria. I work as a lawyer in an IT company. In my free-time - especially while travelling I enjoy photography. I'm interested in color, light, beautiful sceneries and people. Most of the time I take pictures of my family, friends and random people and objects. Recently, I did more street and landscape photography. I get my inspiration from every-day things or situations, documenting the aesthetic aspects in my environment. Most photos were shot with my digital Fuji cameras but some were taken on a Kiev 60, currently my favorite medium format film camera. I've started shooting analog recently because it keeps me in the moment and I spend less time focusing on a screen and worrying about details. However, I appreciate the convenience of modern digital cameras and the possibility to share images instantaneously. Discover Krakow is my first trip.
